Details
Gran Cerdo Blanco is the antithesis of the traditional, oak-heavy white Rioja. Gonzalo focuses on revitalizing the soil of his family’s vineyards, which had been damaged by chemical farming in the past. The 2024 vintage is a “honest” wine—unfined, unfiltered, and fermented with minimal interference to preserve the life and zing of the Viura grape.
Tasting Note: Fresh acidity comes through from the Viura grape, with delicious floral nuances from Muscat and Riesling. Aromatic and balanced. Vegan friendly. Enjoy as an aperitif or with vegetarian pasta or white fish.
Appellation: Vino de España
Vintage: 2024
Style: White
Grapes: Viura
Vinification: The grapes are grown on limestone-rich soils and harvested by hand. In the cellar, Gonzalo uses a very light touch: fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. To maintain its raw energy, the wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation and sees no oak whatsoever. It is bottled with minimal sulfur, often resulting in a wine that feels “static” and vibrant in the glass.
Alcohol: 12%
Farming: Biodynamic, Low-intervention.
Allergens: Sulphites
Pairing suggestion: Sardines, padrón peppers, ceviche.
