Details
A sophisticated, “Grand Vin” style Super Tuscan that offers immediate pleasure while maintaining serious ageing potential. It is deep purple-red in colour, with a complex nose of lavender, blackcurrant, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is vertical and dense, balancing a subtle sweetness with a savoury, saline finish.
Region: Toscana IGT (Bolgheri), Tuscany, Italy.
Vintage:
Style: Medium-to-full-bodied, elegant Red Wine.
Grapes: A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot (a departure from the usual 60/40 split to favour the high-quality Cabernet of this vintage).
Fermentation: Sorting and selection are done by hand. The grapes undergo gentle pressing and destemming to avoid excessive tannin release. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with indigenous yeasts.
Ageing: The wine is aged for 15 months in 225-litre barriques (mostly French oak, with 5% American oak). The wood profile is typically 40% new, 40% second-use, and 20% older barrels.
Alcohol: 13.5%.
Farming: Sustainable and traditional. The vineyards are located at altitudes between 100–300 metres on varied soils rich in limestone, marl, and stones.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
Pairing Suggestion: Pairs beautifully with rich meat sauces like a classic Bolognese, grilled pork, roasted beef, or aged Tuscan cheeses. It is also refined enough to accompany game dishes.
