Details
An elegant and sophisticated “old-school” Rioja that prioritises balance and complexity over raw power. It features a deep cherry colour with brick-red hues, offering a fragrant nose of leather, cigar box, and dark chocolate shavings, followed by a polished palate of ripe red fruit, graphite, and toasted vanilla.
Region: D.O.Ca. Rioja (Rioja Alta), Spain.
Vintage: 2016 (A classic, highly-rated vintage in Rioja known for its elegance and longevity).
Style: Full-bodied, savoury, and classically styled Red Wine.
Grapes: A traditional blend of 90% Tempranillo, 7% Graciano, and 3% Viura.
Fermentation: The grapes are fully destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration is extended for up to 30 days to extract a deep polyphenolic structure. Malolactic fermentation is completed in a mix of new French oak and stainless steel.
Filtration: The wine is racked every six months during its long barrel ageing and undergoes a very light, non-intrusive filtration before bottling to maintain its rich texture.
Alcohol: 14.5%.
Farming: Sustainable viticulture. The fruit is hand-picked from the estate’s oldest vineyards in Fuenmayor, with some vines exceeding 100 years of age.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
Pairing Suggestion: Ideally suited to robust dishes such as roast lamb with garlic and rosemary, beef tenderloin, or venison. It also pairs beautifully with traditional Spanish tapas like jamón ibérico or mature Manchego cheese
