Details
A sophisticated and well-structured Bordeaux Supérieur that punches above its weight. It is deep ruby in colour, offering a concentrated nose of black cherries, blackberries, and cocoa, with subtle hints of walnut shell and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied and velvety, showing ripe black fruits balanced by firm but well-integrated tannins.
Region: Bordeaux Supérieur AOC, France (Vineyards located near Lussac and the historic Abbaye de Faise).
Vintage: 2022.
Style: Medium-to-full-bodied, savoury, and classic Red Wine.
Grapes: A traditional right-bank-leaning blend consisting of 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Fermentation: The grapes are fully destemmed and crushed before undergoing alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures. Maceration of the skins lasts 3 to 4 weeks to ensure a rich extraction of colour and tannins suitable for ageing.
Ageing: Approximately 20% of the blend is aged in oak barrels to add aromatic complexity and “polish” the tannins without overpowering the fresh fruit character.
Alcohol: 13.5% – 14% (The 2022 vintage naturally reached higher concentration due to the warm summer).
Farming: Conventional viticulture with a focus on older vines and rigorous parcel selection. The estate has deep historical roots, with its lands formerly managed by monks and once owned by members of the Montesquieu family.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
Pairing Suggestion: A classic partner for grilled red meats, veal, or game. It also pairs exceptionally well with hard cheeses like Comté or a rich mushroom risotto.
