Details
A classic, versatile Marsala that balances traditional richness with a refined, dryish profile. It displays an intense amber colour and a complex bouquet of toasted almonds, dried figs, and sultanas, accented by a hint of vanilla and caramel. The palate is full and harmonic, offering a smooth texture and a persistent, slightly salty finish.
Region: DOC Marsala, Sicily, Italy.
Vintage: Non-Vintage (NV).
Style: Fortified Wine (available in Secco/Dry or Semi-Secco/Medium-Dry styles).
Grapes: A traditional blend of indigenous Sicilian white varieties: Grillo, Catarratto, and Inzolia.
Fermentation: The base wine is fermented at controlled temperatures (20–25°C). Following tradition, the wine is then “conciati” (fortified and flavoured) with the addition of high-quality wine spirits, mistella (fresh must muted with alcohol), and mosto cotto (concentrated must cooked over an open flame), which provides its deep colour and caramelised depth.
Filtration: The wine is clarified and lightly filtered after its ageing period to maintain its brilliant amber clarity.
Alcohol: 17% – 18%.
Farming: Sustainable viticulture. The grapes are sourced from coastal vineyards in the province of Trapani, where maritime breezes help maintain acidity in the hot Sicilian sun.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
Pairing Suggestion: * Secco: Serve slightly chilled as an aperitif with smoked almonds, olives, or hard cheeses like aged Pecorino or Parmesan.
