Details
A sophisticated, dry fruit wine that captures the transition from summer to autumn in the Irish countryside. It is light-to-medium-bodied with a deep, brilliant purple hue. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of ripe blackberries and wild elderberries, leading to a palate of dark forest fruits with a crisp, refreshing finish that drinks remarkably like a refined red grape wine.
Region: Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
Vintage: Typically released in small, non-vintage batches, though current 2026 stock is derived from the high-quality 2024 and 2025 autumn harvests.
Style: Dry, light-bodied Fruit Wine.
Grapes: None. It is made from 100% Irish Blackberries, often blended with Wild Elderberries and a touch of Blackcurrants to provide structure and complexity.
Fermentation: The fruit is crushed and macerated for several days to extract colour and tannins. It then undergoes fermentation with specific yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The process is slow and careful, lasting several weeks to preserve the delicate berry aromatics.
Filtration: The wine is aged for at least six months to allow the flavours to mellow before being gently filtered and bottled.
Alcohol: 11%.
Farming: Sustainable. All fruit is sourced from Bord Bia-approved Irish growers or foraged from the wild. The winery is a member of Origin Green, Ireland’s national sustainability programme.
Allergens: Low in sulphites; Vegan-friendly (no animal products like isinglass or egg whites are used for fining).
Pairing Suggestion: Excellent with roasted poultry, game dishes, or spring lamb with rosemary. It is also a fantastic companion for a board of mature Irish farmhouse cheeses, such as a strong Cheddar or Cashel Blue.
