Details
The 2018 Château Musar Red is a landmark vintage for this legendary Lebanese estate. While Musar is famous for its long aging process (typically released 7 years after harvest), the 2018 is noted by winemaker Tarek Sakr as being more approachable and “exuberant” in its youth than previous years, though it remains a wine built for decades of cellaring.
Tasting Note: Dark burgundy colour, a nose of matured stone fruits, plums and figs with liquorice and spicy notes. Juicy, black fruits on the palate plus mocha and leather and a beautiful lingering finish.
Appellation: Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Vintage: 2018
Style: Red
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon
Vinification: The wine is aged for 12 months in French Nevers oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, which preserves its raw texture but means it will throw natural sediment as it ages.
Alcohol: 14%
Farming: Certified Organic
Allergens: Sulphites
Pairing suggestion: Roast duck or venison. Mature, nutty cheeses like aged Comté or Gruyère.
