Details
Full-bodied on the palate, with a lovely balance between opulent cherry-pie character and supple structure
A deep, ruby red, the nose is concentrated, offering a rich bouquet of fresh red berries mixed with the characteristic dried cherry and plum aromas typical of the Ripasso style. On the palate, it is full-bodied and “opulent,” reminiscent of cherry pie, but balanced by a supple tannic structure and a refreshing, mouthwatering bitter-cherry twist on the long finish.
Appellation:Â Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC, Veneto, Italy
Vintage: 2022
Style:Â Red
Grapes: 75% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella
Vinification: Alpha Zeta uses a modern “Ripasso” technique. Instead of simply refermenting the wine on used Amarone skins in March, the young Valpolicella is fermented together with a portion of dried grapes in January. This method provides more consistent quality and a deeper “dried fruit” character. After fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 12 to 18 months in a combination of large oak vats and smaller French oak barrels to add complexity and soften the tannins.
Alcohol: 13.5%
Farming: Sustainable (Practicing organic; Vegan & Vegetarian friendly)
Allergens: Sulphites
Pairing suggestion: Roast lamb with rosemary, beef stew, or venison. Mature, hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino.
