Details
A classic, artisanal Spanish vermouth that perfectly balances bitterness, sweetness, and herbal complexity. It is mahogany-coloured and highly aromatic, featuring prominent notes of vanilla, chamomile, and gentian, with a smooth, spiced finish and a characteristic citrus brightness.
Region: Haro, La Rioja, Spain.
Vintage: Non-Vintage (NV), though the traditional formula has remained unchanged for over 80 years.
Style: Sweet Red Vermouth (Spanish style).
Grapes: The base is 100% white wine, typically made from Viura grapes sourced from the estate’s own Rioja vineyards.
Production Process: The secret lies in the “Conzia” a concentrated extract of 24 to 30 different botanicals (including absinthe, marjoram, cinnamon, and vanilla) cold-macerated in white wine. This extract is aged in American oak barrels for up to 3 years before being blended with the base white wine, sugar, caramel (for colour), and alcohol.
Ageing: After blending, the final vermouth is aged for an additional 3 months in French oak barrels to integrate the flavours and add a polished, vinous texture.
Alcohol: 15%.
Farming: Traditional Rioja viticulture; the estate emphasises artisanal methods and has a history dating back to 1895.
Allergens: Contains sulphites.
Pairing Suggestion: Best served chilled on the rocks with a slice of orange and a green olive. It is the essential ingredient for a “Marianito” (a popular Northern Spanish cocktail with gin and a dash of Campari) and pairs perfectly with salty tapas like anchovies, pickles, or cured Manchego cheese.
